GAMBIA: AFTER PAYING $7,600 TO COMPLAINANT, BATCHILLY WAS RELEASED FROM POLICE CUSTODY

According to the police, Batchilly had taken $7,600 from a complainant under the false pretense of arranging the complainant’s son’s travel to Nicaragua and then to the USA through the Mexican border.

“Complainant Xzy accused suspects Musa Yalli Batchally of Latrikunda German and Musa Batchally Bundung of obtaining money by false pretense. Musa Batchally, one of the suspects, took $7,600 from the complainant under the false pretense of arranging the complainant’s son’s travel to Nicaragua and then to the USA through the Mexican border,” the police said.

The police said the suspect took the money but never booked the travel, and could not be reached afterwards.

Batchilly decided to refund the money to the complainant on November 3, 2023, and was escorted to the Eco Bank to do so. The money was returned to the complainant, leading to the release of Batchilly and his co-suspect,

“Musa Yalli Batchally was arrested on November 2, 2023, and was interrogated and charged with obtaining goods by false pretense and conspiracy to commit a felony. The two suspects were detained but, on November 3, 2023, Musa Yalli Batchally decided to refund the money to the complainant and was escorted to the Eco Bank to do so. The money was returned to the complainant, leading to the release of the two Batchillys,” the police said.On November 3, 2023, Musa Yali Batchilly was granted release from police custody subsequent to evidencing a complainant for $7,600. On November 2, 2023, an arrest was made in his possession on charges of fraudulently procuring funds and conspiring to commit a felony.
Batchilly, as reported by the police, misappropriated $7,600 from a complainant by claiming to have organized a trip for the complainant’s son from Nicaragua to the United States via the Mexican frontier.

“Suspected individuals Musa Yalli Batchally of Latrikunda German and Musa Batchally Bundung were charged by complainant Xzy with acquiring funds under false pretenses.” Musa Batchally, one of the perpetrators, allegedly arranged for the travel of the complainant’s son from Nicaragua to the United States via the Mexican frontier in order to steal $7,600 from the complainant, according to the police.

According to the police, the suspect stole the funds but never made the travel arrangements and was subsequently unreachable.

On November 3, 2023, Batchilly made the decision to reimburse the money to the complainant. To accomplish this, he was accompanied to the Eco Bank. The money was returned to the complainant, which resulted in Batchilly and his co-suspect being released.

“On November 2, 2023, Musa Yalli Batchally was apprehended and subsequently subjected to questioning and charged with conspiracy to perpetrate a felony and obtaining products by deceit. Although the two suspects were apprehended, Musa Yalli Batchally made the decision to reimburse the money to the complainant on November 3, 2023. To accomplish this, he was escorted to the Eco Bank. “The two Batchillys were released as a result of the money being returned to the complainant,” the police stated.
