RELEASE ABDOULIE SANYANG: A Call for Justice and Humanity
Professor Mballow, Social and Political analyst wrotes !
The Barrow administration is facing growing pressure to release Abdoulie Sanyang, a former Gambian soldier who has been detained since August 17, 2025. Sanyang’s bail application has been adjourned to October 14, 2025, due to the state’s request for additional time to respond to his application.
Deteriorating Health Conditions
Sanyang’s health has significantly deteriorated since his detention, with his lawyers highlighting critical health issues, including hypertension, post-lumbar sacral surgery complications, and a recent diagnosis of acute psychosis. His wife, Isatou Jaiteh, detailed his medical history, noting that metal plates and screws in his body exacerbate his condition in the prison’s inadequate facilities.
Inadequate Medical Care
The prison authorities have failed to provide Sanyang with the necessary medical attention, sparking concerns about his well-being.
His lawyers argue that Mile 2 Prison cannot meet his medical needs, and that his detention poses a severe risk to his health.
Call for Release
In light of Sanyang’s deteriorating health and the inadequate medical care he is receiving, we urge the Barrow administration to release him on humanitarian grounds. His detention has raised concerns about the government’s commitment to upholding human rights and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
Take Action
We call upon the government to take immediate action to address Sanyang’s health concerns and ensure that he receives the medical attention he needs. The international community and human rights organizations are watching, and it is imperative that the government demonstrates its commitment to justice, humanity, and the rule of law.
Release Abdoulie Sanyang Now!
