Two men (suspects) in the alleged kidnapping of a teen girl have been arrested by the police. The deputy spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force (GPF), Cadet Assistant Superintendent Muhammed Y. Darboe on Thursday confirmed this news to Foroyaa.

“First, we cannot confirm whether the girl was raped. That was just an allegation. So, what I can confirm to you is that indeed the girl has been found at Sukuta Traffic Lights,” Darboe said.

The spokesperson explained further that the driver has been arrested together with the person under whose care the vehicle was.

“Two of them were arrested and detained. They are currently helping the police with their investigations,’’ Darboe said.

Darboe added: “But I can also confirm that the girl has been taken to hospital by police detectives. So, we are looking forward to a medical report that will verify whether or not, she was raped. And also, we might not authoritatively communicate this (rape allegation) because it is alleged that she is a teenager.
