GAMBIA: AN ALLEGED ONLINE SCAMMING RING HAS BEEN BUSTED WITH FIVE ARRESTS

The Gambia Police Force have on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, confirmed the arrest of five people suspected of involving in an online scam operation that was conducted in conjunction with the AL group, Wishm, and the 7–11 platforms.

The police statement disclosed that thirty-three cases have so far been reported to their fraud unit in relation to this online fraud.

“Police have arrested five (5) people for being allegedly involved in a suspected online scamming with AL group, Wishm, and the 7–11 platforms, today 23rd August 2023. So far, 33 cases have been reported to the GPF Fraud Unit at the police headquarters in Banjul,” the police said.

The police said that their investigations revealed that over D1 million was invested by the unsuspecting victims in the alleged scam through a Binance wallet address belonging to the main suspect.
