Cadet ASP Muhammad Y. Darboe, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Police Force, has informed Kerr Fatou that activist Fatou Jagne is not charged with any crime.

ASP acknowledged that Fatou Jagne was arrested on Thursday and held for questioning at the TSU and then transferred to Banjul for further screening.

“I can confirm to you that Fatou Jagne has been arrested yesterday, 13th July 2023, and has since been undergoing an investigation at TSU and further screening in Banjul. She has been questioned on remarks she mentioned in her videos published on social media, and that process is expected to continue.

“She has not been charged with any crime yet because investigations are still ongoing. This evening, the investigators granted her bail, and she’s expected to be reporting on bail starting on Monday,” Deputy Police PRO told Kerr Fatou.

On Friday morning, it was reported that Jagne had been charged with making false information against First Lady Fatou Bah-Barrow and Inspector General of Police Abdoulie Sanyang.
