GAMBIA: PRESIDENT ADAMA BARROW LEADS NATIONAL CLEANSING EXERCISE

Reflective of his leadership role and political will towards an eco-friendly transformation of The Gambia, His Excellency President Adama Barrow, will lead the re-launch of the monthly National Cleansing Exercise (NCE), tomorrow Saturday, 28th January, 2023. The President will lead a team from West Field Junction starting at 10:30am GMT. 

In spite of the nationwide exercise being voluntary with no restrictions to vehicular traffic and business activities, the public is invited to join clean-up activities within their respective communities between 9am and 1pm GMT.

Accordingly, the various security agencies will participate in areas identified as cleansing hotspots. 

The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) will clean up the areas from Westfield junction, Westfield gutters, Serrekunda Hospital gate, Kairaba Traffic Light junction, Churchill’s Town, Sukuta Traffic Lights to Jabang Highway. 

For their part, The Gambia Police Force (GPF) will cover Nusrat Junction, Kaw Junction to Abuko Bridge while The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) will clean the road section from Churchill’s Town to Nusrat Junction.

The Banjul capital area from the National Assembly to Denton Bridge will be cleared by The Gambia Prison Services (GPF) while The Gambia Immigration Department will be active from Westfield Junction to Bakoteh Police Station.

Auxiliary groups such as The Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS) will be active across their home-link communities to be supported by other voluntary associations.

This scheduled workplan is flexible and the army, police and various security agencies may be moved to hotspots that were not initially identified.
