The Government of the Gambia has declared Friday and Monday, the 7th and 10th of April 2023, respectively, as public holidays throughout the country, in observance of Easter celebrations of Good Friday and Easter Monday.

“As the Christian Community ends 40 days of fasting and prayers in commemoration of Easter, His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, is pleased to declare Friday and Monday, 7th and 10th April 2023, respectively, as public holidays throughout the country, for the Easter celebrations of Good Friday and Easter Monday,” the government announced on Wednesday.

President Barrow also took the opportunity to extend best wishes to the Christian Community and pray for the continued peaceful co-existence between Christians and Muslims. He further urges all Gambians to work together to maintain peace, stability, and advancement of The Gambia.
