Macky Sall-Ousmane Sonko tensions: Gambian analyst worries about Gambia’s security

In Senegal, the political tension between President Macky Sall and the opponent Ousmane Sonko does not leave the Gambian criminologist and analyst Modou Lamin Faye unmoved. The man fears that this situation threatens the security and stability of The Gambia.

“If the Senegalese government cannot put its house in order, how can we expect it to put our house in order? If the Senegalese government cannot protect itself internally, Casamance to be precise, why should we be so comfortable leaving the security of the Gambian people in their hands? reported by news site The Point.

Negotiate a peace between Macky Sall and Ousmane Sonko
He invites Gambian President Adama Barrow to initiate discussions with the African Union and ECOWAS, in order to negotiate a peace between Senegalese President Macky Sall and his opponent Ousmane Sonko. Because it would be a mistake to turn a blind eye to what is happening in Dakar,” he continues, convinced that “any instability in Senegal will constitute a threat to the stability of The Gambia”.

“Relying heavily on outside military forces to protect our nation…”
The analyst also invited the Gambian authorities to work so that the army is able to fully ensure the security of the country. “Being an ally of a neighboring country or other countries is a norm, but leaving your country in a vulnerable state is demeaning and disrespectful to us as a country…Relying heavily on outside military forces to protect our nation is like depending on someone to provide food and shelter for your family. If there is a misunderstanding, they will teach us a lesson by cutting off all supplies or support. We will always be their puppet and we will always despise them…”, said Modou Lamin Faye.
