In an audio message, the Secretary-General and Party Leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Lawyer Ousainu Darbo, called on his party members to come out and vote in large numbers. He also urged voters to refrain from selling their voter cards.

“I believe you have seen the great work that Rohey Malick Lowe, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, Landing Sanneh, Foday Danjo, and Malamin Bojang have done in their respective positions. You should also believe that Yankuba Darboe, Malick Sowe, and Alagie Sillah are in a very serious party because the current sitting UDP mayors and chairmen are all from this party. I am calling on everyone, especially UDP voters, to come out in their numbers to vote for these hard-working people.” the UDP leader said.

Lawyer Ousainu Darbo also appeal to the electorates to go back to their regions and vote to avoid a low turnout of voters;

“I am appealing to all the electorates from Basse, Janjangbureh, Kuntaur, Mansakonko, and Kerewan to return to their areas and vote in the upcoming election. In the last election, many people did not return to vote, which is why we did not have many councilors in the provinces. I know that many people have regretted not voting, and I urge you not to make the same mistake again. The only way to ensure that your candidates win is by voting for them.

“Please also protect your voter cards and do not sell them for D500. Selling your voter card is a form of slavery, and no one should be able to buy your loyalty, even for one million dalasis, let alone D500.

“Your vote is your power. Use it to make a difference in your community.” Darboe said.

It is scheduled for 20th May 2023 to hold the election for mayor and chairmen.
