GAMBIA: MAJOR GENERAL MAMAT CHAM ASSUMES ROLE AS NEW CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF AFTER CDS YANKUBA DRAMMEH RETIRES

Lieutenant General Yakuba A. Drammeh, the Gambian Chief of Defence Staff, has retired, and his deputy, Major General Mamat O. Cham, has taken his place.

Lieutenant General Yakuba A. Drammeh, who has reached the age of 60 and has almost four decades of loyal service to his credit, has decided to retire in accordance with statutory norms, according to a statement from the Armed Forces.

“The Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Yakuba A. Drammeh, has decided to retire on statutory grounds when he reaches the age of 60.” He has been with the GAF for over four decades and will be succeeded by his deputy, Major General Mamat O. Cham. Meanwhile, at the proper moment, the Ministry of Defence will release a Press Release on this situation. “Thank you,” stated the Gambia Armed Forces.
