Yesterday, Malick Njie, a single-count rapist, was apprehended before the High Court in Banjul. Njie is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old boy.

The prosecution, headed by State Counsel F. Drammeh, alleges that on February 5, 2022, in the vicinity of the QCell building on Kairaba Avenue in the Kanifing Municipality, the defendant, who is sixty years old at the time, engaged in sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old boy.
He pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him in Wolof, and state counsel F. Drammeh requested a postponement so that the prosecution could present its witnesses.

Justice Jaiteh postponed the hearing of the initial prosecution witness’s evidence in chief until January 16, 2024.
