The lawyer for the woman on trial for the suspected murder of her lover, Kumba Sinyan, claims that Sinyan suffers from mental health concerns.
One count of murder is against Kumba Sinyan. According to the prosecution, she stabbed her boyfriend Lamarana Jallow in the stomach, killing him. In September 2022, the Friendship Hostel in Bakau was the site of the claimed event.
In their efforts to establish her guilt, the prosecution had already presented several exhibits and ten (10) witnesses. While her defence was set to begin, she entered a not guilty plea.
On Monday, April 15th, Kumba Sinyan was supposed to begin defending herself in court. However, her lawyer Sagarr Twum notified the judge that Sinyan had been advised by a doctor not to attend the hearing.
My customer told me she is sick and couldn’t sleep last night due to dizziness and a headache while I was in Mile 2 this morning. Lawyer Sagarr Twum testified that he had to go with his client to the emergency room.
Kumba Sinyan was seen by a doctor yesterday, who recommended that she not be present in court yesterday due to her psychiatric issues and the need for help, as the senior lawyer informed the court.
As evidence, Counsel Sagarr produced a medical report. The state’s prosecutor did not raise any objections to the postponement, but he did urge the defence to take the necessary steps prior to the next postponed date so that the case can resume.
The lawsuit was postponed until April 24, 2024.
