GAMBIA: A GROUP OF SENIOR GAMBIA ARM FORCES (GAF) OFFICERS REACTED TO THE GAF PRESS STATEMENT, REBUTTING THEIR LAME DEFENCE TO COVER UP FOR ALLEGATIONS OF POLITICISATION AND TRIBALISM OF PROMOTION

OPEN GAMBIA Platform (OG) reproduces the eight-point rebuttal verbatim.

1. It is clear that there were ten vacant positions for the rank of Colonel. The issue you don’t want to clarify is the criteria you use to justify promoting Juniors over their Seniors.

2. What term of reference did the board use to justify the promotion of Juniors over Seniors?

3. Could It not also be a good part of the Security Sector Reforms to convert all the Quarter Master Officers who have already done their Junior and Senior staff and command courses?

4. If the promotion is not politically or tribally motivated, why is it that some tribes that got just promoted in 2020 are promoted over others who were in their ranks for 9 to 10 years as Lieutenant Colonel?

5. You can only do this when it comes to appointments. Then, you can appoint juniors over seniors, but in professional armies like Nigeria, when you promote juniors over seniors, you retire the seniors to maintain discipline.

6. Tell the readers why Seedy Joof is the only Officer whose regimentation converted from Quarter Master Officer to a Regular Commission. What is his qualification over the rest? We know more about this promotion than you do, and when next you respond, we will be forced to tell you all.

7. Why did you fail to address the termination of CDS Drammeh’s service, leading to the promotion of CDS Momar Cham and the extension of CDS Momar Cham’s contract to become CDS Drammeh’s replacement even though CDS Cham is older than the former CDS Drammeh? Was CDS Drammeh removed because he refused the political and tribal advances of Seedy Njie and SIS DG Sowe to restructure the GAF for their political expediency?

8. Lieutenant Colonel Lamin K Sanyang, you are one of those promoted over their seniors, so you are not credible enough to respond to this article.

What is your qualification over your seniors? Sadly, you responded to this, and you have nothing to convince any sensible person of the justification for this promotion. Shoulder the but with no respect.
