GAMBIA: A SUSPECT IN THE KILLING OF 2 PIU OFFICERS ARRESTED

The suspect who reportedly shot and killed two personnel of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) of The Gambia Police Force has been arrested, The Point has been reliably informed. 

The suspect, who is identified as Ousainou Bojang, a native of Brufut Bojang Kunda, was arrested at Jululung, Cassamance, the southern part of Senegal.

“The operation to apprehend the suspect was executed with precision, leading to his capture in Jululung, Cassamance,” Police confirmed on their Facebook page.

“Currently, the suspect is under police custody, and ongoing investigation aims to unveil the motives behind the shooting of the police officers.”

Two PIU officers in the person of Pateh Jallow and Sang Mendy were shot dead at the Sukuta-Jabang Traffic Lights Junction on Tuesday night by an unknown gunman. They were rushed to the hospital where they were pronounced dead. Nancy Jawo, another PIU officer who was shot and critically injured in the same incident, was receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
