GAMBIA: APPEARING IN COURT, THE ALLEGED KILLER OF FATOUMATA KARGBO IS FORMALLY CHARGED

Fatoumata Kargbo was murdered on January 19, 2024, in a Westfield Forex Bureau just before Jummah prayers. The authorities have formally charged the person involved.
“Murder contrary to Section 187 punishable under section 188 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01 Volume 3 Laws of The Gambia 2009” is the charge against the defendant.

Fatoumatta Kargbo, an employee of Forex Bureau, tragically lost her life on January 19, 2024, during Jumma Prayer at Westfield. The accused have been duly prosecuted after a comprehensive examination into the event. “Murder contrary to Section 187 punishable under section 188 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01 Volume 3 Laws of The Gambia 2009” is the accusation against him, according to the police.
The police are requesting a transfer to the High Court from the Kanifing Magistrate Courts because of jurisdictional limitations; the matter has already been submitted there. Mile Two Central Prison is housing the accused until the High Court’s special criminal division hears the case.

Until the case is heard at the High Court’s special criminal division, the suspect is being held on remand at Mile Two Central Prison, according to the police.
