Bakary Y. Badjie, the Minister of Youth and Sports who is also the National People’s Party’s mayoral candidate for the upcoming local government elections, said he will win the race for Mayor of Kanifing Municipality at an event where he received the endorsement of the Elite Strategist Team;

“We want to assure the people of Kanifing Municipality that come May 20th, I will definitely be declared the winner of the Kanifing Municipality. This is based on very strong reasons. One is because of the people that we have here (Elite Strategist Team), each one of these individuals has a strong following, has a rooted connection to the people of the Municipality, and are people that have even before today invested their time, their resources in supporting the basic needs of The people in the community,” he said.

Hon. Badjie stated that he is contesting for a party that is loved by Gambians and has done a lot for Gambians over the years;

“I am contesting under a party that is loved by Gambians. A party that is young but has done its best in the last few years that it has been established. Under the leadership of President Adama Barrow, who in the last six years in power has done tremendously well in terms of economic growth, in terms of infrastructural development, in terms of education. Almost everything you list government has done its best, and I am contesting under that party being backed by other coalition members, so we certainly see no reason why the people of KMC will have any doubt that we mean well, and we are ready to work with them to address their needs,” He said

Bakary Y. Badjie made these remarks at a press briefing where he was endorsed by the Elite Strategist Team on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
