Dr. Hatem Rasslan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to The Gambia, met with Mr. Yankuba Dibba, the President of the Organizing Association for the upcoming Islamic Conference in The Gambia, and His Excellency Ambassador Omar Jibril Salah, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of The Gambia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as part of his participation in the General Assembly of the United Nations, currently in its seventy-eighth session in New York.
Ambassador Hatem Rasslan announced in special statements that he has been chosen as a member of the organizing committee responsible for receiving delegations. He emphasized that The Gambia is fully prepared to receive delegations, heads of state, and monarchs from Islamic countries. Invitations have already been sent out, and Egypt was one of the first countries to welcome and confirm its participation in the summit.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to The Gambia explained that The Gambia is expected to lead the Islamic summit for the next three years. He pointed out that during the meeting, logistical arrangements and preparations for the fifteenth Islamic summit, hosted by The Gambia in Banjul on December 16 and 17, 2023, were discussed.
Rasslan praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Republic of The Gambia, and they explored ways to enhance them. The meeting also addressed several issues of mutual interest.
