During an evaluation visit to the country prior to the summit slated for early May, Ambassador Yousef Al-Dubaie, assistant secretary general of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), met with President Adama Barrow and spoke to the media at State House.
He claims that his group has seen the road construction, hotel renovations, and other facilities in preparation for the major gathering and can attest to the fact that a lot of work has gone into getting the country ready.
Meeting with the president and foreign minister since our arrival has given us the same feeling that the country is prepared for the summit. Ambassador Yousef sent his compliments to the president, CEO of OIC Gambia, ground technicians, and everyone else involved in getting the country ready for the summit.
The Gambia is set to play host to the OIC’s main event beginning on May 4. Along with the completion of the airport executive lounge and the Jawara convention centre, work on the major Bertil Harding Highway is almost finished being reconstructed and expanded.
In order to ensure that the country’s finest hotels are prepared to welcome the dignitaries anticipated for the summit, OIC Gambia has announced its collaboration with the Gambia Hotel Association.
