The administration of President Adama Barrow has reportedly removed the ban on a number of people, including Njogu Lamin Bah, Amadou A. Colley, Momodou Sabally, Basiru A.O. Njie, and Sirra Wally Ndow Njie, according to the Gambian government’s spokeswoman, Ebrima G. Sankareh.
“I was able to unequivocally affirm that the president has remitted the whole prohibition imposed on the following individuals from holding public office in accordance with Section 20 subsection 3 of the Commission of Enquiry Act. They are Sirra Wally Ndow Njie, Momodou Sabally, Amadou A. Colley, Njogu Lamin Bah, and Basiru A.O. Njie. On January 22, 2024, in Banjul, this was completed. In particular, the Commission of Enquiry Act of 2001 serves as the foundation for the statute controlling this, which is Amnesty for Person Ban from Holding Public Office Order 2024,” he stated.
