GAMBIA: IMAM FATTY ISSUED A STRONG WARNING TO PRESIDENT BARROW

Imam Abdoulie Fatty, an Islamic scholar, has issued a severe warning to President Adama Barrow and the members of the National Assembly to refrain from igniting the country.

Fatty reiterated his unwavering support and preservation of FGM during a Friday congregational prayers at Coastal Road.

According to President Adama Barrow, his government is dedicated to the enforcement of the prohibition of FGM.

Imam Fatty stated in his sermon, “I intend for this message to be conveyed to the president, the cabinet, advisers, National Assembly members, and security personnel, as they are all involved in this.” I wish to inform them that they are the ones responsible for the fire that will consume this nation. We will never relinquish our faith to any individual, and we will make this point abundantly obvious to them. They should prevent the West from engaging in games with us. The West has been engaging in a game with us for decades; however, it has reached its limit.

The Imam continued, “They have selected over 30 NAMs and taken them to Egypt. The kafirr groups in the country, including the Civil Society, UN agencies like UNICEF and UNFPA, mobilised funds, and each was paid over D170.000 for their per diem.” For what purpose?

He encouraged the NAMs to return the funds. “We must maintain the practice of female circumcision in this country, and I am imploring Gambians who value the tradition to continue doing so.” Individuals who are not currently engaged in this activity may disregard it. Fatty stated, “In fact, I informed them at the TRRC that we will reject any law that is in direct opposition to the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad.”

“We will submit a petition to the Assembly to ensure that all Gambian Muslim women undergo female circumcision by force if you do not cease this campaign.” Imam cautioned anti-FGM campaigners, “We must circumcise our daughters, and if you do not approve, that is your business.”

He stated that the funds allocated for the NAMs’ voyage to Egypt could be more effectively allocated to the provision of medicine to hospitals that are devoid of medication for patients in need. “I recently visited Kanifing General Hospital with my daughter, and I was only able to obtain one medication. The staff advised me to purchase the remaining medications at private pharmacies,” he stated.
