The Public is hereby informed that the President of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow, acting under Section 76 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, is please to declare Tuesday, 16th July 2024 as a public Holiday throughout The Gambia in observance of the Muslim New Year, Youmal Ashura

The President on behalf of his Government and family would like to extend his best wishes  to all Gambians, home and abroad, Friends of The Gambia and the Muslim Ummah, a year of blessings, peace, progress and prosperity.   

In his capacity as Chairman of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation- OIC, President Barrow extends his prayers for peace and stability to prevail in Palestine, Sudan and all other countries and communities in conflict or war.
