GAMBIA: KILLINGS IN KIANG JIFARONG ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED SAYS THE POLICE

The Deputy Public Relations officer (PRO) of the Gambia Police Force, Cadet ASP Muhammed Y Darboe, has confirmed the arrest of one person in connection to the alleged killing of two children in Kiang Jifarong early Sunday afternoon.

“I can confirm that the incident happened in Kiang Jiffarong today, the 29th of January 2023.  It happened in two separate instances. The Victims are all below the age of six. One of the victims is five years old, and the second victim is under the age of one. They were killed by a suspected mentally ill person who was on the run in the bushes. But as I speak to you, the alleged perpetrator is apprehended by the police and helping us with our investigations. So that is the latest we have on this tragedy. Our people (the police) are on the ground and finding out more information about the incident,” Deputy Police PRO Cadet ASP Muhammed Y Darboe told Kerr Fatou.

As we reported earlier, at least two people were allegedly killed in Kiang Jifarong on Sunday afternoon by a mentally ill family member. The investigations continue, and we will update you as we gather more information.
