Modou Ebrima Cham, popularly known as MC Cham Jr., has been sworn in as a councillor to represent the business community at the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC). The newly nominated councillor for business and tailoring has vowed to live up to expectations.

“I will work day and night to improve the business community in the Kanifing Municipality, representing and addressing their needs, and maximise the potentials of the Small Medium Enterprises (SME) for increased income. I will strengthen the local networks, liaison with the trade institutions, increase youth employment, and broaden revenue base for development in the Municipality. We heard your concerns, from improving waste management, better security and safety for businesses and more markets. You will not be let down,” MC Cham Jr said in a post on his official Facebook page.

MC Cham Jr. further assured the people of KM that, under the leadership of Mayor Bensouda, the KMC will continue to put their needs at the centre of everything they do this term. He thanked Mayor Bensouda for the nomination, the councillors for their support, and the Ministry of Local Government for their approval.

“I thank my Party the United Democratic Party (UDP), the leadership and H.E ANM Darboe who undoubtedly welcomed and gave me the opportunity to work with them. I am truly honoured to be part of this great party I recently joined with the conviction that it is the best for this country’s forwardness and development,” he stated.

MC Cham Jr, the former executive member of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), and Nenneh Freda Gomez, the former Spokesperson of the Citizen Alliance (CA) are among the people nominated by the Mayor of KM Talib Ahmed Bensouda to represent diverse groups in the KM at the Council.
