Edrisa Bah, Muhammed Drammeh, Juldeh Njie, Njoku Faye, Ebrima Camara, Sarjo Jallow, Ebrima Conteh, Sadiou Conteh, Ebrima Singhateh, Alasana Tamba, Babucarr Njie, Yaya Ndow, Mbye Kasseh, Abubacarr Baldeh, Omar Manneh, Bubacarr Suwareh, Saidou Bangura, Abdoulie Conteh, Abdoulie Kamara, Ousman Bangura, Mose O. Bull, Ebrima Camara, John Koroma, Muhammed Karago, Edrisa Camara, Alasana Kanteh, Abdoulie Jallow, Dabana Yala, Mane Baus, Malo Alieu, Assan Kanteh, Ousman Njie, Masayeh Sowe, Loree Oge, Enylohd Chibijilon, Kasim Jallow and Augustine Sanyang were on the 14th August, 2023, paraded before Magistrate Ebrima Colley of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court and charged on two counts of idle and disorderly contrary to Section 166( C ) of the Criminal Code and common nuisance contrary to Section 160(1) of the Criminal Code.
According to the charge sheet, in the month of August, 2023, at Serekunda and diverse places, in the Kanifing Municipality of the Republic of The Gambia, they, while in a public place, conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace.
They were also alleged to have obstructed or caused annoyance and inconvenience in exercise of a common right.
Those who pleaded guilty on both counts were fined on count one D1000 in default to serve one month imprisonment and they were fined on count two D5000 in default to serve one year in prison.
Those who pleaded guilty on count one only were fined D500 in default to serve one month imprisonment because they were remorseful.
Those who pleaded not guilty on both counts were granted bail in the sum of D5000 each with two Gambian sureties and they should report to the Anti Crime Unit once every week.
The prosecuting officer, ASP Oley Bobb, is expected to make a line-up of her witnesses on the 28th August, 2023.
