President Adama Barrow has come under heavy fire from Haji Suwaneh, the fiery National Youth President of the United Democratic Party (UDP), who has accused him of intentionally inciting the UDP amid tensions between the UDP-led Brikama Area Council and the central administration.

Suwaneh claims that Barrow’s actions are driven by politics rather than by resentment for Yankuba. Suwaneh thinks that Barrow’s main objective is to take Yankuba’s focus away from the West Coast Region’s development projects. According to Suwaneh, Barrow is aware that the Brikama Area Council cannot fund extensive development on its own and that cooperation from other organizations is required. Barrow wants to obstruct those partners’ development ventures by putting up barriers, maybe since there aren’t any advantages for him personally. Barrow’s legitimacy as a genuine leader was called into doubt by Suwaneh, who accused Barrow of endangering the hopes and dreams of the thousands of voters who supported Yankuba in the West Coast Region.
He isn’t battling Yankuba. He engages in political activity. His goal is to divert Yankuba’s attention from the work he is conducting in the West Coast Region. He is aware that the Brikama Area Council must collaborate with partners in order to bring about all the development, since the council’s income cannot support it all on its own. He is just not profiting, therefore you want to block those partners from bringing about that growth. He wants to disqualify every one of the thousands of West Coast voters who cast ballots in response to Yankuba. Is the leader there sincere? Without a doubt, this lacks significant leadership,” he said.

The president of the UDP National Youth warned the Gambians not to believe the rhetoric of President Barrow on progress. Suwaneh claimed that Barrow is just interested in political manoeuvring and that his claims of progress are untrue. Suwaneh stressed that the Brikama Area Council, an organization chosen by the people of the West Coast Region, is involved in the crisis and that it is not only a UDP issue. Suwaneh emphasized the need for money in order to carry out the commitments made to their particular Wards by council members from different political parties. He said that Barrow was trying to limit the Brikama Area Council’s incoming funds, which would hinder the West Coast Region’s aspirations for advancement.
Inform him that any mention of progress is only hollow rhetoric if he does so. He is only prepared to engage in politics on a daily basis; he is not prepared to contribute to our progress. He’s attempting to incite the UDP, as I said, but this is not an issue for the UDP. This relates to the Brikama Area Council, which the residents of the West Coast Region elect. Parties represented among the council members made pledges to their respective wards. Without income, such commitments are unachievable. In order to offer a backwardness to the aspirations of the West Coast Region, Barrow is attempting to restrict BAC’s incoming earnings, according to Haji Suwaneh.

The United Democratic Party’s (UDP) National Youth President is Haji Suwaneh.
