GAMBIA: PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO SEEKS BARROW’S SUPPORT FOR HIS MINISTER OF FOREIGN AAFAIRS

Arriving in Gambia yesterday, President Nana Akufo-Addo has asked President Adama Barrow for support for his Minister of Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwe, who is running for Commonwealth Secretary-General.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mamadou Tangara changed his mind and opted to stay in his job despite leading the contest. According to a source close to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Nana Akufo-Addo is traveling to the Gambia to ask for support for Shirley Ayorkor Botchwe, the current Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration for Ghana. The Voice was informed of this.

The purpose of today’s meeting at State House is to provide President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration with a supportive assurance of Dr. Tangara’s decision to stay in his current role as Commonwealth Secretary-General, according to a source. In addition, Tangara will be reassured of his position and discussed.
