President Adama Barrow expressed confidence in The Gambia’s readiness to host the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, pointing out that the summit has the potential to significantly increase the country’s reputation worldwide.

As a result, Ghana will show up on the map as a little nation. When I arrived, Qatar was set to host the World Cup, and we were all supposed to host the OIC. We communicate among ourselves, and we all encourage one another. planning large-scale efforts despite being a small country. Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup proved to be a great success and increased tourism in the nation. According to President Barrow, this initiative will also benefit the Gambia and its people and put the nation on the map.

It is the largest security deployment in the history of the country, as President Barrow highlighted the urgent need for security and promised stringent measures.

“The delegates who are coming here are very important personalities, and security is very important to us and the ummah.” Security is our main priority. We take security seriously since, in my opinion, it is our primary duty. All of the local security agencies, especially the intelligence community, are collaborating with us.

“I promise you that this will be the biggest security deployment in our country’s history for the event taking place here. Maybe for security reasons, we are sending at least 3000, if not 4000, people on the ground. We are putting a lot of money into security and working with other countries that have similar objectives. Among them is Morocco, and we have alliances with other countries. President Barrow affirmed.

The fifteenth Islamic Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, dubbed the OIC Banjul Summit, is slated to happen in The Gambia on May 4–6, 2024.
