GAMBIA: PRESIDENT BARROW DECLARES EIDUL FITR A PUBLIC HOLIDAY

State House, Banjul. As Muslims around the world look forward to the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, His Excellency President Adama Barrow is pleased to declare public holidays marking Eid-ul-Fitr, locally known as Koriteh.  

If the moon is sighted on Thursday, 20th April 2023, then Friday, 21st April 2023 and Saturday, 22nd April 2023, will be Public Holidays. However, if the moon is sighted on Friday, then approval for Saturday, 22nd April 2023 and Monday, 24thApril 2023, shall be Public Holidays.  

Eid is a moment of worship and an opportunity to spend more time with friends and families. Therefore, on behalf of the First Family, the President wishes all Muslims a happy and blessed celebration.
