Madrid, Aug 19 (Prensa Latina) The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, will tour Africa, which will take him to Mauritania, Gambia and Senegal, official sources said today.

In a new step to consolidate cooperation focused on economic exchange issues and to neutralize irregular migration, Sanchez will travel to these three countries from August 27 to 29.

The issue of illegal immigration has been a long-standing one in Spain, but particularly in recent months with the demand of the Canary Islands (the largest arrival center for African migrants) to distribute unaccompanied minors throughout the country.

Sanchez was already in Mauritania last February 8 accompanied by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, an occasion in which both announced an advance of more than 500 million euros in aid to facilitate the country’s progress and the fight against irregular migration.

Now, the head of the Spanish Executive returns to Nouakchott, the Mauritanian capital, where he will meet with the president, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, to whom he will confirm Madrid’s decision to support the development of this northwest African nation.

On the other hand, Sanchez will visit Gambia for the first time, where in its capital Banjul he will meet with President Adama Barrow.

In Senegal, the last stop of his tour, the Spanish president will meet with Bassirou Diomaye Faye, head of state of that nation since last April.

Spain signed a four-year agreement for the delivery of 180 million Euros to boost the Senegalese economy.
