President Adama Barrow has said that the long-awaited Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting will now take place in May 2024.

The president told GRTS upon his arrival from Saudi Arabia on Monday, “We are the country that is supposed to host the next OIC scheduled for the 16th, but due to circumstances like security and others, we decided to push it further.” We engaged at the highest level so that we could push it to May 5, 2024, and I believe they all agreed unanimously that it would be the ideal time to host the program.

Meanwhile, the OIC Gambia Secretariat has scheduled a news conference for today morning in order to shed additional light on the situation. Sir Dawda Jawara Conference Center will host the press conference.
