On Saturday, April 13, 2024, His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, the Vice President of The Gambia, led a comprehensive site inspection of the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre and Banjul International Airport in advance of the 15th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Heads of State and Government Summit, which is set for May 4–5, 2024.
Vice President Jallow examined vital facilities and infrastructures necessary for the successful hosting of the upcoming summit while accompanied by dignitaries, including the Chief Protocol (OP), Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, Chief of Staff (Office of The President), and Cabinet Ministers from several important ministries, including Works, Defence, Lands, Health, Petroleum, Information, and Tourism.

The evaluation process started at Banjul International Airport, where VP Jallow and his team checked out the VVIP Lounge, Apron, and Firefighting and Rescue Service Unit before moving on to the Security Barracks, the main airport entry.
The team then continued on to the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre, which is located in Senegambia, Bijilo, and is the location of the next OIC summit. Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow visited the translation booths and meeting rooms, which are essential parts of the conference facilities, during this portion of the visit.

The Vice President and his delegation had the invaluable chance to evaluate the state of preparations for the 15th Islamic OIC Banjul Summit, which is set to take place in May, as well as the preparedness of the SDKJ International Conference Centre and Banjul International Airport, thanks to this thorough inspection.
Vice President Jallow told the media that the Gambian standard is up to scratch. He highlighted that even though this is The Gambia’s first time hosting an event of this kind, the country has expertise from previous OIC Summits, thus standards compliance is guaranteed. Dispelling rumours about outside finance, he praised the Gambia’s government, led by President Adama Barrow, for using domestic resources for the preparations. He acknowledged the large expenditure made to guarantee the success of the summit and thanked the Ministry of Finance for providing the Secretariat with important resources.

The Islamic Summit is coordinated by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is regarded as the second-largest intergovernmental organisation and has 57 member states spread across four continents. As a result, dignitaries from the 57 OIC member countries as well as other world leaders are expected to participate, including presidents, kings, sultans, prime ministers, and others.
