Juan Branco, lawyer for Ousmane Sonko, has filed a complaint for “crimes against humanity” against President Macky Sall. The complaint has been forwarded to the International Criminal Court (ICC). Juan Branco asks the ICC prosecutor to seize himself under article 13. He also requests the opening of a preliminary examination and investigations based on the evidence.

This complaint is a support of 170 pages, consisting of 710 items of evidence selected out of a total of 4500. The evidence is, according to him, documents, contracts, videos and testimonies. They were collected between March 2021 and June 2023.

Ousmane Sonko’s counsel is targeting 112 suspects in this procedure. Among others Macky Sall, Marème Faye Sall and Amadou Sall. They are cited, by the lawyer, as primarily responsible for the condition of crime against humanity. Antoine Diome, Pape Malick Ndour, Aly Ngouille Ndiaye, Mame Mbaye Niang, Birame Faye, members of the government, are among the list of suspects.

Juan Branco also informed of additional procedures initiated in France, in parallel with those initiated at the Cpi. A way for the lawyer to “not depend on the effects of power that influence this institution” and to guard against any impunity. He also wants to ensure that “the dignitaries of this regime can no longer set foot on the European continent without fear of being arrested”.
