The architect Pierre Goudiaby Atépa reported ongoing consultations between President Macky Sall and the leader of Pastef, Ousmane Sonko, with the aim of finding a way out of the crisis. According to Atépa, who claims to have discussed with both parties, an atmosphere of openness and humility characterizes these discussions.
Mediation appears to be bearing fruit, with concessions considered to calm the political situation. Pierre Goudiaby Atépa, a key player in this mediation, maintains that the two men, Macky Sall and Ousmane Sonko, are willing to compromise.
“The President of the Republic whom I met wants peace, I am convinced of it. Yesterday was yesterday, today is today. The time for peace among Senegalese has arrived. Between the tongue and the teeth, there are sometimes clashes,” Mr. Goudiaby said on rfm.

Although the prospect of political dialogues is raised, Atépa seems to prefer consultations. We can therefore expect, in the coming days, the release of Ousmane Sonko and his associates.
The interrupted electoral process was marred by clashes last Friday between the police and demonstrators, leading to three deaths in Saint-Louis, Dakar and Ziguinchor.
Despite the call for dialogue launched by President Macky Sall, the political class described as radical has not yet responded favorably to this initiative.
The situation remains tense, marked by clashes and tensions, highlighting the pressing need to find peaceful solutions to ease tensions and promote constructive dialogue between the parties concerned.
