SENEGAL: “THE PRESIDENT GAVE US A VERY NICE SURPRISE” – KHALIFA ABABACAR SALL

Khalifa Ababacar Sall, on RFI and France 24 on Tuesday, returned to the speech of Macky Sall who finally abandoned the Presidential race. A strong moment, at the limit liberating, according to the leader of Taxawu Senegal, who also highlighted this fight of the Senegalese people to achieve this result.

After the announcement of President Macky Sall who is renouncing the Presidential of 2024, the opponent Khalifa Ababacar Sall, hooked by RFI and France 24, says he is marked by the announcement of the Head of State, announcing his non-candidacy for conform, he says, to his word given and to his writings.

“And the speech on Monday was a strong liberating moment at the limit. Since the President by announcing his non-candidacy has delivered the whole country. In 2011 we led this fight, this year also around the F24, civil society and the whole country, we mobilized, and by giving this favorable response to this request or even this request which had become national and social, the President gave a very nice surprise. We rejoice, we welcome it and we congratulate him because it had to be done and he did it”.

Mr. Sall also put the cursor on the dramatic events experienced by Senegal in March 2021, June 2022 and June 2023, with heavy damage, victims…. A citizen fight, he adds, which had been led by the Senegalese people so that the democracy of our country could be consolidated and anchored more.

Remember that, thanks to the national dialogue, initiated by the Head of State, Khalifa Sall and Karim Wade will recover their civic rights. Indeed, the Political Commission of the national dialogue between the power and the opposition said it was in favor of modifications to the electoral code which would lift the ineligibility of the two men.
