Why Is the Central Bank Governor Reacting Emotionally to Press Questions?

A Governor of a central bank must recognize that public office comes with scrutiny, accountability, and challenging questions.

When the press raises concerns, the purpose is not to provoke conflict but to seek clarity on issues that affect the public and the economy!

Questions directed at senior government officials, especially those responsible for monetary policy, should be met with professionalism, calmness, and clear explanations. Public officials ought to respond with facts, not emotions!

It is therefore inappropriate for a central bank Governor to cite political opposition talking points when answering legitimate questions from journalists. These are two separate matters, and blending them only undermines public trust.

The most recent press briefing by the central bank appeared to end on a chaotic note due to the Governor’s emotional responses, including statements such as:” (“All lies.”)

Such remarks are unnecessary and unhelpful.

Public institutions exist to clarify misinformation and explain policies in simple, accessible language so that citizens understand the decisions being made on their behalf. Responding with frustration or dismissive comments only erodes confidence in the institution.

Ultimately, public officials must lead with transparency, composure, and respect, especially when addressing the nation through the press.
