Caravan of Ousmane Sonko: The warnings of Antoine Diome

The Minister of the Interior released a statement to recall the legal provisions, after the launch of the “Freedom Caravan” initiated by Ousmane Sonko. Antoine Félix Abdoulaye Diome warned potential troublemakers. For him, the state will remain strong. Seneweb delivers the document to you in full.
“[…] It was given to us to note, this Friday, May 26, 2023, that the president of the PASTEF party launched a “caravan” from Ziguinchor with Dakar as its destination, passing through different regions of the country.

During this day, incidents were recorded in the commune of Kolda.
The Minister of the Interior recalls that caravans are considered processions and are therefore subject to the obligation of prior declaration, in accordance with article 96 of the Penal Code.
Consequently, the Minister of the Interior insists on the imperative to respect this formality and asks all the organizers of processions, parades, caravans, gatherings of people and, in general, any demonstration on the public highway to s comply with it.
In any case, the competent authorities will take all necessary measures to preserve public order and the peace of mind of citizens.
