Ousmane Sonko’s lawyers leave the courtroom.

The defense will not appeal to overturn the sentence of the criminal chamber which sentenced Ousmane Sonko to two years in prison.

“In matters of absenteeism, it is not possible to appeal. But, on the technical level, we will advise regarding the conduct to be adopted in the context of the acts taken,” informed Me Bamba Cissé, member of the pool of lawyers for Ousmane Sonko.

The defense also noted that their client was not convicted of rape and death threat.

“For two or a little more, we were sold a rape file. We were sold a file in which it was said that a fragile girl was raped under duress and with weapons by Mr. Ousmane Sonko. Today, justice said that it was not true ” noted the lawyer.

According to the defense, justice has given them reason. “We have always said that Ousmane Sonko is the victim of a plot, a conspiracy. And that he never raped,” said Mr. Bamba.
