A four-day online learning course for female administrators ended lastThursday with a renewed commitment from participants to make best use of the knowledge they had acquired.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Gambia Football Federation (GFF) President, Lamin Kaba Bajo, described the event as “historic day for the promotion of women’s football in the country.”

He went on to say that GFF spared no effort to make sure the project endorsed by the world football governing body is given a favorable consideration.

While acknowledging the progresses that have been made during the previous years in the area of women’s football, Bajo lauded the men and women who made this possible.

Organised in collaboration with FIFA, the virtual training brought together all Female Div One and Two managers. Women’s football representatives also took part to the training session, which was held at the National Technical Training School, Old Yunfum.

He expressed hope that the knowledge they will gain during the training will “greatly impact in the running of women’s football in the country.”

The Head of Women’s Football at FIFA, Arijana Demirovic, said the training marked the ‘next chapter’ in the promotion of women’s football in the country

As a good number of strategies are going to take shape in the near future, FIFA’s top official noted the trainees will be instrumental in implementing these projects.

“This course is just the beginning,” she told participants who are yearning for the best.

In a similar vein, the President of Women’s Football Association, Sainabou Cham, emphasized the uniqueness of the course as it brought together major stakeholders.

“Our mission, as an association,  is to raise the standards of the various players in women’s football,” added.

She then commended FIFA and GFF for putting the development of women’s football at the top of their agenda.
