SENEGAL: OUSMANE SONKO & POLITICAL DETAINEES ON HUNGER STRIKE FOR 14 DAYS

Ousmane Sonko, arrested and charged with calling for insurrection and other crimes and misdemeanors, has been on a hunger strike since Sunday July 30.

Ousmane Sonko was transferred from Sébikhotane prison to the Principal Hospital in Dakar following a deterioration in his state of health linked to the hunger strike he has been on since his incarceration.

The leader of Pastef-Les Patriotes was indicted on July 31, and placed under arrest warrant for calling for insurrection, criminal association, attack on state security, conspiracy against state authority, acts and maneuvers to compromise public security and create serious political unrest, criminal association in connection with a terrorist enterprise, but also cell phone theft, among others.
