On September 18th, 2023), the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) ordered the Principal of the Gambia College to submit all missing vouchers totaling D21 million.
The Financial and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) has decided that the missing vouchers totaling GMD 21 million must be turned over to auditors by September 28, 2023. If the vouchers are not delivered by this date, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) must initiate an inquiry promptly and report to the FPAC within 90 days.

“The Gambia College’s annual Activity Report and Audited Financial Statement for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2018 were presented to the National Assembly.” Financial statements and activity reports for 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 are still pending. The GPPA’s Draft Compliance Reports for Gambia College for 2019 and 2020 have not been completed, according to FPAC.

The key Findings and Observations of the Committee revealed that during the interface with the Governing Council and Management of Gambia College, the Committee observed that D21 million worth of missing Payment Vouchers and Investment Certificates were queried by the auditors, who decried Gambia College’s lack of cooperation.

“In November 2021, the External Auditor submitted a draft Management Letter to Gambia College.” Ten months later, management responses were obtained. Auditors complained about Gambia College’s lack of cooperation, particularly from the Board Chairman. FPAC stated that even after contacting the Auditor General’s Office, Gambia College’s actions remained inappropriate.
