The chairman of the Brikama Area Council (BAC), Yankuba Darboe, has declared that the council has approved a motion to file a lawsuit against the Gambia Police Force and the National Road Authority (NRA).

“Brikama Area Council has today passed a resolution to take legal action against the Gambia Police and NRA task force that has purposefully destroyed the shape and structure of our Brikama Central Market, without any legal justification,” the chairman said on Facebook on Tuesday.

At the moment, unlawful encroachments on highways are being removed by the National Road Authority (NRA), the Gambia Police Force, and other relevant parties. The chairman of the Brikama Area Council, however, is not pleased with the damage that has been done inside the market.
