During his interview with In-depth Media on Tuesday evening, the Youth President of Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress (GPDP), Adama John, has called for effective collaboration between Local and Central Government of The Gambia.

The called, was triggered by the current rift between Brikama Area Council and the stakeholders over the demolition exercise that the council said, has negatively impacted the market vendors, thereby impoverishing them.

Speaking to In-depth Media, Adama John has reacted to council accusations of Central Government; of undermining its efforts to bring the needed development people of West Coast Region have been yarning for.

He described the road that leads to Brikama main hospital as very important, and as such, there was a need for it to be cleared so as to allow vehicles to easily pass without any delay, especially, during emergencies.

”We need to consider emergencies. Years back, there was a serious fire outbreak, and Fire Service were unable to access inside the market. That severity of that fire outbreak was caused by lack of road inside the market”, Mr John stressed.

The Youth President added, that Brikama Area Council is bigger than Chairman Yankuba Darboe, and Mr Darboe has been elected by the people, therefore, he should put people’s interest first and work with President Adama Barrow.

He called the Chairman to work in hand with President Adama Barrow to tackle the problems people of West Coast are currently facing.

Comparing President Adama Barrow’s weight with that of the Chairman of Brikama Area Council, he said more than four hundred thousand voters have voted for Barrow in 2021, which he said, cannot be compared to that of Darboe, Mayor Bensouda and Rohey Malick Lowe.
