Whiles everyone is forcused on Dr Bajang which raises issues on the serioussness of President Barrow in fighting corruption. We are also seeing a gross disregard to violence against women by the President through the pardon of rapists or femicidists. This is sending a message to all rapists that they can rape girls and women and later get pardoned by the President. It also send a message to femicidists that they can kill women and then get pardoned since women and girls lives don’t matter and it is not a Priority of this government.
Here are some of the convicted criminals who were pardoned by President Adama Barrow last week:
- Pape Ibrahim Khalilulaye Thiam – he killled Fatou Loum in Kololi and was sentenced to life in prison.
- Nfamara Saidykhan – he raped an under-age girl in Jarra Sankuya and was sentenced to life in prison.
- Yankuba Njie – he kidnapped and raped a woman in Faji Kunda and was sentenced to life in prison.
- Yaya Mballow – he raped a 14-year-old girl in Sare Mamadi in the Upper River Region and was sentenced to life in prison.
- Ousman Baldeh – he raped a 9-year-old girl was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
- Momodou Camara – he raped a 4-year-old girl in Tanji and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
One wonders why now?
Why all these rapists and peadophiles ? Who are the individuals who made this recommendation ?
Who are on the Parole Board who have decided that these individuals who are a threat to society and our very existence especially the young and vulnerable girls?
