Witnesses describe a horrifying occurrence that occurred in Cheedi Wollof, Central Badibou, North Bank Region. The shopkeeper was attacked by heavily armed bandits who severed his ear before stealing an incredible twenty-six million CFA.

“The worst part of it is Kerr Pateh is not far from us, they called the soldiers but they said they don’t have a car, fuel, and driver,” say eyewitnesses as they describe the horrifying happenings. They made no attempts to contact the police. Around one-third to one-half of an hour after they arrived at the complex armed, a Senegalese man said, “We should not be afraid because we come for war.” Everybody in the compound, including my brother and nephews, had their firearms aimed at them. When my younger brother tried to flee through the back door, he ran into two armed thieves who threatened to kill him if he didn’t return to the compound. They stole more than twenty-six mission CFA and some Dalasis (not counted), bit the proprietor, and cut his ear. They were at the plus at the spot for about an hour. Neither the police nor the military could assist alone. There are more than twenty armed robbers using various types of weaponry.

The North Bank Region is home to Cheedi Wollof. The police have been contacted, but they have not yet responded to our inquiries.
