Boubacar Séye, researcher and consultant in international migration and founding president of the organization Horizon sans Frontières, publicly expressed yesterday, Monday April 15, 2024, his wish to see the former President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall, be the subject of an international arrest warrant. This request comes shortly after Macky Sall was replaced by Bassirou Diomaye Faye at the head of the country.

In a statement posted on social networks, accompanied by a photo of the ex-president, Boubacar Séye articulated his desire to see Macky Sall extradited to Senegal to be tried there. According to him, the former president should answer for “political and economic crimes” . “Against the impunity for Macky Sall’s political and economic crimes, an international arrest warrant must be issued by the new authorities in order to begin the procedure for his extradition to Senegal. This will be a great service to the Senegalese people!!! “, he said.

Boubacar Séye was himself a victim of the old regime, having been arrested and imprisoned. Indeed, in January 2021, he was arrested at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass (AIBD) when he got off the plane and charged with “dissemination of false news”, then was placed under arrest warrant. at Cap Manuel prison in Dakar. He was released ten days later, later stating that he had developed diabetes during his detention, a disease to which he was not predisposed.

Furthermore, it should be noted that just before his departure from power, Macky Sall attempted to postpone the presidential election and took advantage of the confusion to introduce a law in the National Assembly requesting that an amnesty law be passed. to erase all crimes and offenses linked to political demonstrations which took place between 2021 and February 2024.
