GAMBIA: PRESIDENT BASSIROU DIOMAYE FAYE’S VISIT TO BANJUL

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye visited the Gambia this Saturday, April 20, where he was received by his counterpart Adama Barrow. A meeting during which it was agreed to maintain a Presidential Council between the leaders of two countries in order to give strategic scope to their bilateral cooperation.

This decision, according to the APS, is among the commitments announced following a tête-à-tête between Gambian President Adama Barrow and his Senegalese counterpart Bassirou Diomaye Faye on a working visit to the Gambian capital.

And according to the Senegalese Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, who read the press release, “  this visit underlines the importance of the deep ties which unite the two peoples.

According to her, “  President Faye’s trip to Banjul symbolizes the deep and shared desire of the two heads of state to promote the spirit of camaraderie for a mutually beneficial collaboration for the two peoples .”

“  The two Heads of State discussed the state of historic bilateral relations between The Gambia and Senegal and, in this regard, reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the established Presidential Council, with a view to continuing to bring cooperation between the two countries at a high strategic level (…) The two Heads of State expressed their great satisfaction with the state of bilateral relations between the Gambia and Senegal and underlined the consubstantial nature of the links which unite the two countries, inextricably linked by history, geography, culture, common development aspirations, and further welcomed the various efforts made to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in many sectors ,” we can read in the joint press release.
