Statements made by several well-known APRC members that Yahya Jammeh supports the ongoing efforts at mediation between the two groups and that he will reach out to Fabakary Tombong Jatta to make amends have been publicly refuted.
Jammeh, who founded the APRC and now supports its breakaway faction known as the “No-To-Alliance” movement, made the following statement on an audio recording that was made public yesterday from his exile base in Equatorial Guinea: “The condition I gave Yahya Tamba is that if Fabakary and his team want to reconcile, they will have to return all APRC documents.” To say that I discussed any reconciliation with anyone last week is a huge falsehood. It’s untrue. Additionally, the former MP is lying when he says that I gave them permission to get back together. It has not a shred of truth.
It is untrue to imply that I promised to call Fabakary so we could make amends because I haven’t spoken to him once since he joined the NPP. Therefore, it is false to say that I claimed I would call Fabakary. The claimant is lying, and he is aware that he is lying. I’ve got no motive to lie. You must see the executive if you would like to visit our APRC, which is the only APRC that is officially recognised. I’ve told Fabakary and the team up front that the APRC’s joining the NPP will happen “over my dead body.”
