Ex-Gambian International John Bass set for Kidney Foundation launch

Lamin village-born John Bass will be inaugurating his kidney foundation on Saturday, November, 16, 2019 at Semega Janneh Hall.

Bass, who played for the Scorpions as well as Brikama United till early 2018 suffered Kidney failure which forced him retire prematurely and seek treatment abroad.

The Gambia and other sub-Saharan African countries are facing challenges in relations to high rate of Kidney failure disease.

The John Bass kidney foundation which will be the second kidney foundation in the country will serve as help to families that have relatives battling the disease and will also advise patients as well as guide them on overseas preparations,whilst also liaising with schools, communities and firms to educate the public on how to prevent the disease.

High-profile dignitaries from the health sector, football fraternity, the media and well wishers of John are expected to grace the occasion.

The ambassador of the the foundation, Buba Jallow mentioned that they are aiming to attain the player’s long term goal which is to educate the public on the disease.

“We are looking forward to achieve John’s long term dream, it’s all about creating awareness and I think we have to take the lead in quality health.” Buba emphasized.
