The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with partners, released a statement today to inform the public that there will be another countrywide COVID-19 vaccination campaign starting from on the 14th of March 2023.

“There will be another round of a countrywide COVID-19 vaccination campaign starting from 14th March 2023,” the ministry announced.

The health ministry said the vaccination is geared towards the fulfilment of the Government’s vision of scaling up vaccination coverage to 70%.

“Despite significant gains in the reduction of cases of COVID-19, the pandemic continues to impact lives and livelihoods. Therefore, the Ministry of Health urges all to unite and overcome this public health threat,” the ministry said.

On the type of vaccines available in the country, the ministry said.

“Currently, the country has three different types of vaccines available, namely: Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Sinopharm, all of which are safe and effective in preventing severe COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and death. The goal of this campaign is to vaccinate all eligible individuals from the age of 12 years and above, as no one is safe until we are all safe,” the ministry revealed.

The minister announced that vaccination teams will be deployed to public places such as community “Bantabas”, health facilities, schools, markets, crossing points, and any other strategic locations in the communities. During the campaign, vaccination cards will be issued to all the individuals vaccinated and urged the public to keep the cards safe.

“The Ministry of Health is soliciting the continuous support and cooperation of the public in its efforts to continue the containment of the Pandemic.” the statement continued.
