GAMBIA: ANTI CRIME UNIT ARRESTS SEVENTEEN FOR ASSAULT & WILLFUL DAMAGE

According to a news statement issued by the Gambia Police Force, its anticrime section detained seventeen (17) people ranging in age from 15 to 69 during an incident in Freetown, Sinchu Sorrie, on October 8, 2023.

According to the police report, the gang ‘NEVER MINE’ illegally entered residences, assaulted inhabitants, damaged property, and intimidated locals before departing the area. Eyewitnesses recognized the gang boss, Saikou Jarju, also known as ‘DOSER,’ and he was captured.

Several members of the community were injured, and mobile phones, including Samsung A21 and iPhone 6 models, were taken.

“During the incident, several community members were injured, and mobile phones, including Samsung A21 and iPhone 6 models, were stolen.” While the gang’s leader, Saikou Jarju, is participating with the continuing police investigation, the general public is urgently cautioned not to take the law into their own hands. Instead, the announcement advised people to “report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station as soon as possible.”
